Quite frankly, ET, the loss of electricity is the one thing I am not worried about because I can live without it: gas stove, woodstove, shallow well [okay, lugging water would be an inconvenience]. I'll ask my cousins when I see them next week if they know of a web site to help you out since I know they were dealing with the electricity issue in the past (and am not sure what either of them decided).

Some friends here have a back-up generator large enough to run their refrigerator, freezer, stove, and medical device [air thing, severe sleep aphnia (spelling?)). They are considering getting a storage tank for gasoline and if necessary, only using the generator 12 hours a day. Generators are loud when operating so they have their in a shed away from the house; the line to the house from the generator is under ground.
