Kevin - Re: " Then again, it's pretty amusing that little AMD has been MUCH more successful with its new instructions than mighty Intel was. "

Games, Kevin, Games.

These are not selling AMD chips.

AMD's deep discounts are selling chips - i.e., cheap prices.

What 3DNOW software have you bought recently ?

Paul

re:Please, tell us how AMD has been less successful with 3DNow than Intel with MMX. I could use a good laugh.

3D-NOW has been a complete failure for AMD. Why? Because AMD has not been able to charge a "value premium" for it. Have you seen the prices for K6-2 chips lately (relative to Intel chips)? Not a pretty picture. You can hype all you want about the number of games supporting 3D-NOW, but if AMD is not able to charge a premium for it, it's all for not.

Of course, Intel faces the same challenge with Katmai pricing.
