Hi Andrew,
Re: your post <The more I think about this concept, the more I like it. I agree that Costco and Sams are not the competition, but not because of the difference between first line and brand name merchandise and other types.>

Yep! The market segments are distinct, but not mutually exclusive. Members can belong to a Sams type club and RDIM. I think the RDIM approach of acquiring existing businesses in the one segment, broadening access to all types of first line quality merchandise, and making it convenient to access other services is -- well, brilliant.

If the businesses (wholesale clubs) are successful today (estimated $8 billion market), on a fragmented basis, think of the synergy when RDIM consolidates the delivery model and brings whomever they acquire/partner with online to a stable, easy to use platform(s), as well as keeping select brick and mortar showrooms.

I think the management and technology team at RDIM have a damn good shot at doing this, and doing it well. Whatever name RDIM selects for the business/operation/website -- I can see it evolving into a generic household point of reference -- kinda like the Home Depot, Toys R Us, BestBuy, Starbucks -- why not the NetCo, WholeNet or BestNet company -- or something like that?

p.s. I've got to work today, so will post later tonight.
