<< For instance, there's a mad scramble currently underway to provide a free service for shareholders by streaming the conference calls of the top 100 Nasdaq companies over the internet in 1999.>>

i keep wondering about the long overdue
micronet & teraGlobal "teracom" technology...real time +video
compression + a vertical application targeted at medecine, education,
entertainment concerns to stream dailes, etc.

ed makes solid points, but the fact is, i keep finding sites like picturetel [and xing...hal & jubimer] and all i see is time's
a wastin'....<<Now, if Ampex had bothered to put up a website while it mulls over its acquisition strategy, it would be in a position to join in the fun and use its technology to distinguish itself from the crowd.>>

precisely.

i understand big E's agenda in his letter, but the fact is intermediate
tactics would seem to speak to that enhancement of warchest so
desperately needed to gobble quality....i mean look at RCN: they have
executed miracles while we seem paralyzed by introspection & bandwidth constraints. there are intermediate solutions....

and still:
why hasn't imagio done the image thing yet...converted things
like anniversary time to rehabilitate the ampex lustre?
