Craig, The problem with those surveys is that they survey IT types. They don't survey the folks who answer to shareholders and directors about the lousy eps and how they ought to control expenses.

I am just using logic. A new pc box does not fix your problem, as your database and all of your programs are still infected. If you fix the programs and databases, at a high cost, you then have less money to waste on useless crap.

So far, I have seen several projected budgets for next year. I have yet to see one outside the computer or related area itself, where pc purchases will be higher than this year. And most IT budgets are much higher due to code fixes.
