In turn, thank you for this thoughtful post. We do need to keep in mind everything you have said here. My ancestors, as well, experienced some horrors, occasionally at one another's hands. One of the amazing things that has happened in this country of immigrants is that although many of us have lost the long history and heritage of our forebears and with it a certain richness, we have gained the freedom to meet people individually rather than as part of a group. We must not let that freedom wither into blind factionalism again. It is too easy to class people as rednecks or Bible-thumpers or liberal loonies, or whatever. It is so much more difficult to deal with them as individuals. Cyberspace gives us another opportunity to be free. We can't see one another, so quick classifying judgements are less of a burden to communication. Again, we lose the richness of sight and sound; again, we gain. All the best to you!
