I can't hot-swap the monitor..... can I?

Thanks for the monitor info and I do have the Matrox card. Jon said he didn't install any drivers so I'll have to go get um. But I'll check display properties as you suggest first.

I think you have the wrong impression if my current situation. While I'm waiting for the new monitor, I'm switching my old monitor back and forthe between the new PC and the mac. I didn't assume hot-switching was a good idea so Im spending alot of time starting and shuting down to switch the monitor. I will put your info to work when the new monitor arrives.
Til then if you and ZP say its OK to plug/unplug a monitor into a running computer than thats what I'll do. It just seemed like a no-no but what do I know.

Clarence

if you don't have MGA Display
properties, the Matrox driver isn't loaded. You can
download the current driver from their web site.

The Nokia monitor arrived today and I working on getting it setup. I do have the Matrox g200 and I've run the setup cd but MGA Display is not appearing so I'm thinking the driver from setup cd didn't load.

I dwnldd the latest driver from MGA to my desktop but don't know how to install it correctly. In my Devices control panel there are listings for mga......disabled, mga_mil......disabled, and mga64......Started.

Another curiousity which a current driver installed might cure...... Nokia lists 1280x1024 to refresh at 75, 85, or 100 Hz. My display mode list has 60, 75, and 85 HZ.. no 100hz listing.

Can you explain whats going on here?

Clarence

ps As you said, I think I need more time in areas such as the above before messing with partitions. Not ready yet for that.
