Hi Jenna,

WSJ: HEARD ON THE STREET 12/30/98

Three online brokers: SCH EGRP and AMTD were reviewed. EGRP recently surged 26% a day due to the anouncement that they attracted 1/2 m of visitors to their site BUT they do NOT reveal the number of these visitors converted to customers. Even they are converted, these
customers can be switched to other service if they find another
discount on the commission and fee. EGRP will NOT be profitability until Sept 1999.

AMTD soared 63% on a day after they anounced that they would meet the
earning target. However, a month earlier, they asked analysts to
lower their numbers due to the expenses for technology problems and pay back to customers for poor executions.

SCH is now valued as much as MER. In addition to brokerage fee and commission, SCH has ONE SOURCE program to sell mutual funds. Baron
Capital Managament owns 20 M shares of SCH and has the $4 Billions
assets of the funds raised thru ONE SOURCE.
