L3: You might want to consider Quotes Plus 2 instead of Reuters. It works great with Metastock, it's cheap, and you get fundamentals, too. The best feature is the scanning, which is much faster than Metastock. So you can scan in QP2 for the stocks you want to look at, and then look at the charts in Metastock.

Anyway -- just an idea.

Lee,

The Convert feature is a lot more flexible than just working with downloaded data. You can import data from Excel, ASCII, and a bunch of other formats to MetaStock, Excel, ASCII, and a bunch of other formats.

I worked for Reuters and wrote the online signup code, and as I recall, the signup calls a secure 800 number at CompuServe. The signup wasn't coded to use an Internet connection. Maybe they've changed it since I left 9 months ago, or maybe I've lost my mind and don't recall how I did it!

I'd vote for the churning top - this week's Barrons predicted a 5% drop in corporate profits next year. Combine this with a relatively high market P/E, and you could have a choppy year.
