You know, bear that I am, I had let it get past me that AMZN had increased 900% in seven months.

On a simple hand calculator, I just figured a company would have to grow 20% a year compounded for eleven years straight to increase in value that much.

I feel sorry for all the people that shorted it on the way up. I hope they stopped out early.

Aside from the fact that it's losing money, is there really any likelihood that people will be buying nine times as many books as they do from one company? I think it's more likely that entire libraries will be online and one will just download what one wants or needs.

I realize that for me to stand here in the middle of a bunch of mostly sane people and criticize lunacy has little point to it.

Anyway, against everyone's advice here, I went and bought a January 2001 230 put on Amazon, so I have two years to sit on it and see what happens. Anyone here can see what I did. It was the only one traded today. I can stand to lose the money. But I can't stand just sitting here in the middle of one of the great crazes in all history and not do something about it.
