Richie: Victor's engrossed in a replay of the great and glorious victory England had over Australia in the ashes test match last night. Coming on the heels of Liverpool's pulsating victory over Newcastle yesterday, the NYSE is boring.

I will be buying CPQ in the $40/41 range (unless it dips lower). I always had $42 as my pre-earnings target with a spike to $45. I think it may spike again to $45 before earnings, but have given up my last week's tentative wondering about a $48 pre-earnings spike. Just before or just after earnings it could rush to $48-52 in which case I would get out for a trade, unless, of course, there was a barnstorming annnouncement from the company, tulipmaniac momentum, or a big movement in the general market.

I am a bit worried about the general market or tech sector having a downdraft at the end of January or the beginning of February and don't want to have too much margin by then. After the post-earnings correction, I would buy CPQ for a ride to about $75.
