There was a story about fuel cell powered cars on the CBS evening news tonight. Some of the points made include: 1. The DaimlerChrysler car, which was to debut in LA this evening, turned out to be the little car that couldn't. 2. Though Ballard was not mentioned they did show a picture of the engine which contained the Ballard name painted on the top of the engine. 3. Fuel cell powered cars are at least 10 years away. 4. Question raised was "With the low cost of gasoline would the average consumer want to buy an environmentally friendly auto with all of its drawbacks?". They mentioned that the electric vehicles are not selling because of the inconvenience and time required to charge the batteries. 5. No mention of hybrids was made.
