-----OFF TOPIC----

Has anybody seen the advertisement on CNBC for a beeper alert service. It will page you when one of your stocks goes up or down by a preset amount. It was an 800 number with an extension of 70 or 72 but I haven't been able to catch it again and wanted to get some info on it.

Several companies provide alerts to your PC but this was the only one that I have seen that will let you select individual stocks!

thanks,

Joe McFadden

El and Lynn: It looks like we missed a lot over hear. Steam radio was the norm here until about 1955. There was no advertising on our radio unless you had a crystal set and cut pick up Radio Luxembourg. If you could, you were privileged to hear Dickie Valentie, Frankie Lane, Guy Mitchell, Johnnie Ray etc

Even in the late 1950's TV was on in the evenings only and closed down about 10 p.m. Everybody wore evening dress, even outside broadcasters, just like the guy sitting at the desk in Monty Python who said "And now for something completely different". We had only one commercial channel, commercials were severely restricted.

EL...Scroll ahead 30 years and posters on this thread will be reminiscing over the silly blinking banner advertisements on the net. Not far removed from the blinking "pong" cursor. Oh ya, remember the catchy slogan "Be Direct". <GG>
