All I can say to you Janet is that you ain't getting my imrs, cbsi and synt codeheads in your quasi-programmer draft! Read between the lines my friends. (Remember end of Nov. post where I said bodyshops would have a substantial run? Look at an imrs and cbsi chart.)

I guess now we know why you aren't sweating Y2K, what with all your stores and equipment, and a wife to drive the whole process. ggg. I. too, suspect that a good part of the problem will be due to people's reaction to the problem, to whatever extent it is realized. That's why I have been trying to pressure the feds to be more up front about the potential problems that could materialize. People behave in a much more civilized fashion when sufficiently informed.

IMO, it's better to "scare" people now, when the event is still over the horizon for most folks, rather than act like all is well and hope no one gets too excited. There is enough distrust of the government as it is. Can you imagine the reaction if things do go haywire even to a minor degree and the USG was downplaying it?

Moreover, I get real pissed off sitting around a table with high-paid Washington lobbyists, lawyers and govt. officials (yeah, there's a few of 'em), all talking about the need to ensure that the general public doesn't make a run on banks, etc., only to hear some of these same people talking as they leave the meeting about how they're going to make sure their assets and accounts are out of harm's way.

You want panic? How about a Y2K movie being released two months out from 2000? Last I heard, that is the target date for its premiere, and I rather doubt that Hollywood will be embracing your perspective on this matter...
