lws, a good question, but I don't necessarily agree with your theory.

Go back one year. VLNC was telling people they were going to begin commercial production in the first quarter '98. I know they told this to Red Chip Review because Red Chip indicated this in their report.

Obviously something did go drastically wrong in late '97, early '98, but there was no announcement. If they didn't have to announce that their plans to begin production were scuttled, and they would have to begin a "major redesign" of the line, I see no reason why they would have to announce through a PR (as opposed to an SEC filing) their timeline for qualifying the first line has slipped by a few more months.
