There are probably other reasons, but buying BKS would crush the value of AMZN stock. Why is AMZN loftier than BKS? Because it is a pure on-line play. If they buy BKS, they no longer are, they might have earnings, and then they might trade at a more "normal" multiple of earnings, and a stock price 1/4 of where it is today.
