contest alert: As I write this the S&P500 is at 1229. Marc Ultra's prediction was 1228, looking pretty good. As to the Dow as Bob has said many times it is nothing but a narrow unrepresentative piece of crap of an index which is of little interest.:- ) By the way I assume everyone's noticing this apparent early January effect with the small and midcaps pulling away the last few days. I hope this will actually last through January. The Russell is especially impressive so far today. Marc
