If they stumble, they are gone. I would hope the acquiring party would be kind. In the era of the mega-merger, this is small potatoes, even at 30/share. Companies like GE or AT&T have the best currency in the world right now--they can use that overpriced stock to buy cheap assets. As a matter of fact, they should. Alcatel will ultimately recover and be able to do the same. What's $9 or $10 billion to these companies? Nothing! In the ideal world, 99's launch plan is executed flawlessly for both LOR and G* and the stock is a takeover at 40 or 50. In the real world, a worst case has a G* launch disaster, enormous disgruntled shareholder pressure, and a price not much above where we are now. Cross your fingers.
