Navigant International Confirms Web Presence and Plans
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 29, 1998--Navigant International, Inc. (Nasdaq: FLYR), one of the largest suppliers of corporate travel services in the U.S., today confirmed that most of its operating companies have sites on the World Wide Web, and that Navigant will be opening a centralized site, www.Navigant.com, in the first calendar quarter of 1999.
"Over the last few days, we have been inundated with calls asking about our web presence," said Edward Adams, Chief Executive Officer of Navigant. "As a group, we currently have 15 sites. Each of these sites has been developed to maximize service to our clients. Several allow existing clients to book travel on the Internet; others allow anyone with access to the Internet to make travel reservations. For example, TravelCorp, at www.travelcorp.com, McGregor Travel, at www.mcgregor.com, and Arrington Travel Center, at www.arringtonusa.com, all allow anyone to make airline, hotel or car reservations on line. Users can also log on to the Bowers Worldwide Travel Management site at www.bowerstravel.com to book cruises and other leisure tour packages."
"One of the elements that separates Navigant from other travel management companies is the pool of talent and experience we have created by purchasing successful agencies and retaining their management and key personnel," Adams continued. "We plan on using the expertise and experience of our companies in developing and implementing our central site, www.navigant.com. This integrated site should incorporate the best features of our current sites. We also plan that the site will incorporate our proprietary products, such as AQUA's quality control and fare search programs, to allow on-line travelers to receive the same high quality, low fare service we provide our corporate clients. The site is in development and we plan to have it up and online by the end of the first calendar quarter of 1999."
"The Internet has always been part of our business plan," said Robert Griffith, Navigant's Chief Financial Officer. "The Internet not only offers us the ability to sell leisure travel reservations online, it also can help us lower transaction costs for our business clients. The internet can also allow our corporate clients to access information about their accounts, their travel history, compliance with travel policy, and, ultimately, their costs. With this information, they can begin to manage their Travel and Entertainment budget, which is typically one of the largest, controllable items in a corporate budget. The Internet is just one more way we can serve our clients, and become an end-to-end service and information provider for corporations around the world."
Other Navigant companies with Web sites include Associated Travel at www.associatedtravel.com, Mutual Travel at www.mutualtravel.com, Professional Travel at www.professional-travel.com.
