Why do I first go to AMZN for books and music?

When I've time to kill, I may shop to save a few cents, but usually, I would qualify as somewhat price insensitive when it comes to my convenience. Southland Corp (7-11) has proved the model years ago that convenience sells, even at much higher prices from the major grocery store chain store around the corner. So I pay a buck or two more at Amazon -- they know who I am, I don't waste time, their services work well when it comes to making other recommendations, their book review boards are the most active -- I pay for quality.

You could carry these discussions on numerous free forums, but you chose to pay for Silicon Investor. Does that make you patently stupid or just price insensitive? No, I contend that you too are willing to pay for quality.

On one thing we agree. Customer retention on the net is a challenge because folks can bail with a single click. One bad experience with AMZN would certainly incent me to shop around and perhaps develop another favorite book site in the process.

...but then, AMZN will end up being much more than a book site.

Happy New Year and good luck.
