MSFT is stuck with the legacy of DOS in their windows. They should have done a character-based multitasker based on dos (ala desqview). They should have worked on some OS outside of win9x and NT over the past few years and... no, WinCE is not it.

How is MSFT going to move the consumer market to Win 2000? I don't think that they can. They may have to "re-invent" win98 and sell it as windows 2000.

MSFT has done some decent things in the industry, at least in my opinion. That though was long ago. I left when I realized that the marketing department wants to keep computing a mystical experience so that the users won't realize how badly the software integrates with itself.

I wanted MSFT to encourage educated users, but that never happened.

The end of the road for Windows appears to be just over the horizon.

Remember, MSFT flourishes by convincing the customer that this software is good. The customer will continue to think it's good software as long as they don't know any better.
