What about growing Semiconductor demand?

All this technical analysis is interesting, but
what about the fundamentals? There is an industry
consensus that demand for semiconductors will be
reaching a new peak around year 2000 - 2001 and
that supply will be constrained by the fact that
so much planned new fab capacity has been put on
hold or cancelled due to the "Asian flu" and other
factors. Also, the embedded system market is
quietly growing at a brisk pace -- this is one of
the brightest spots in Motorola's portfolio. Since
NSM is one of the leaders in the move to embedded
systems, these trends could render chart-type technical
analysis irrelevant. Any feedback?
