RE: AMD droop

With the cheerful news trickling out from Anand about the Sharptooth and the stuff on K-7 I find the slump puzzling to say the least. The Intel celery slicing can be murderous for both Intel and AMD, but they have to do it. At the worst for Intel -- designs and performance as leaked and good AMD process and capacity, the spring could be grim for Intel -- but AMD is so deep in the well financially, and must be under pressure to buy equipment for Fabs 25 and 30... that every penny lost through price competition will be sorely missed. I think Intel is being very mean, and is stabbing AMD through its own armpit. But apparently, they think it has to be done. What really sweats me is Intel dumping Inktomi and CNET stock. Are they scared about bubble.com, or are they just picking up 18+ million to beef up earnings? I bet AMD wishes they could do that. It hardly seems fair, but I have 30 times as much INTC as AMD so I can live with it a while.
