Finally - a break where I can get to the PC to try to catch up.

I suppose the best examples I can think of offhand would be the cap equip companies that make semiconductor manufacturing equipment such as AMAT. Back in very early 94 these were starting to move and I found a forgotten one - ASMIF.
I bought in at 5 1/8 and ended up selling at 45 (these prices are all before it split 3:1) Another one would be those that figured out the suppliers making the parts for the IOM (then IOMG) Zip Drive.

If you know Intel is going to use SIII graphics chips on their next motherboards (which has happened more than once) then SIII becomes something to seriously look at.

It's a lazy man's way of playing the market as those involved with the reasons pop early but it takes time for the funds & brokers to find the other companies that may benefit.
