No Schwab is caught between the E-trades Ameritrades and Dateks and MER DLJ etc on the other side. It's difficult to see them growing that strongly. I got my Dad to get an account with them because he's not on the net (and in Israel). But this niche of customers must be declining? Initially I did try to open an account with them but they twice sent me the wrong form and then at that point I discovered the cheaper discounters....

Tip, They are very different cos, but ETrade is also an overpriced piece of crap. Schwab has eps, ETrade doesn't. Schwab is very plugged into no-load fund profits, and ETrade isn't. Schwab, for some reason, gets away with charging huge commissions. ETrade doesn't. Schwab has hundreds of stores. So, it is a different mix. But puts on ETrade make sense to me. The only negative is, they did so lousy this year that every new quarter should be a "better than expected."
