Tom-
P&F, like most other forms of TA, considers both static and dynamic support and resistance. The double and n-tuple tops and bottoms deal with static stuff while the support and resistance lines are the dynamic part of the deal. I've noticed on a couple of occasions where a stock with RS in O's penetrated the BRL, pulled back, and then the next column of X's made a DTB signal and the stock was off to the races (CYCH and BKS come to mind). Without doing an exhaustive study of beaucoup charts I'd say that this pattern has some promise. Initially the security was held back by dynamic resistance and then it broke that as well as the static resistance in rapid succession, kind of like a dynamic catapult. Is this an interesting topic, or does it clutter up the simplicity of P&F?

BTW, my wife's not unhappy about missing UBID any more. In fact, she didn't make me sleep on the couch even once for missing it! And, she's out of AOL with a nice hit-and-run trade (exited on a 3 box reversal, heh, heh).

Early 1998, the time had arrived to set down and rethink the game plan. My FA did not seem to fully answer What, When and for How long. I read book after book, trying to glean from each a better method of investing. Some offered sound tips and advice but not a complete plan, others were completely useless from my perspective. Then lady luck raised her head. I discovered Tom Dorsey's book Point & figure charting. It was the answer that I had been seeking.
Tom did not invent P&F, nor the irrefutable law of supply and demand, he discovered it. To quote the philosopher Louis Halle, "It is the purpose of science to discover an order, not to invent it". Pythagoras did not decree that the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides, he discovered it. It was true before he discovered it, and it is true now.
Tom had the intellect to comprehend what he discovered. I was unaware of any other P&F book at that time. It was his book that enlightened me, 1998 was very prosperous for me because he was willing to share what he had found. He has made my life much more comfortable. And I am indebted to him for that....

Here's to you Big Guy
