Leading index shows strong economy By Rex Nutting, CBS MarketWatch Last Update: 10:19 AM ET Dec 30, 1998 NewsWatch NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- The index of leading economic indicators rose an unexpected 0.6 percent in November, a sign the economy is poised to maintain its strength in 1999, the Conference Board said Wednesday. Seven of the 10 indicators in the index rose in November, led by stock prices, money supply, the interest rate spread and consumer expectations. The biggest negative was jobless claims. cbs.marketwatch.com
