But here is the challenge to traditional retailers:

dailynews.yahoo.com

The growth in e-commerce is staggering!

It seems to me that if you are a conservative investor you need to give the companies that provide the backbone -- routers, hubs, switches, a serious look (companies like ASND, COMS, CSCO, LU, TLAB, etc.). Software companies like ITWO and MANU bear some scrutiny for SCM. One of the more interesting companies which straddles hardware and software is NETA, which provides network security, antivirus software and encryption for e-commerce and intranets. Home equipment mfg. companies like CPQ, DELL, and HWP can benefit from sales of computers. Much dicier will be the various portal companies because of low barriers to entry. But some combination of AOL, LCOS, YHOO etc. will undoubtedly emerge. The biggest bets (and the biggest rewards) will come from picking the winners in retail. Companies like AMZN, BKS, EGGS, EBAY etc. Many of them will fall by the wayside, but I do believe we are witness to a major economic upheaval. So, I have filled my internet basket with the following players: AOL, ASND, BKS, CSCO, DELL, LU, NETA, and TLAB.

TTFN,
