Why is it that investors today think that "corrections" can occur over the span of 3 hours and return to the previous price?

That's not a correction, that's someone running a sell program. :)

Real corrections cause hardship. If someone could check their stock price at the end of the day and still be even, then it wasn't a correction.

Whether today ends up with the label "correction", "pause", "dip", "top" or whatever, the investors that get killed when the internet bubble bursts will be ones that believe themselves to be adding to their positions while taking advantage of a dip.

Bought EBAY at 248. Now I own the 5 horsemen of the net YHOO, AOL,
AMZN, INKT and EBAY. Was today the healthy correcton the nets
needed to move higher ? <<
Yes i'm glad to see this in here, although not as sharp, and is needed to move higher. I do think these will come down to the 20 MAs(moving up nicely) and hug there, perhaps a window of time of a week or two.
