Worldtex Completes Acquisition of Narrow Elastic Facility From Fruit of the Loom

BusinessWire, Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at 12:39

HICKORY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 30, 1998--Worldtex, Inc.
(WTX:NYSE) said that it had completed its previously announced
acquisition of the Lexington, S.C. narrow elastic fabric manufacturing
facility of Fruit of the Loom for an undisclosed cash payment.
In connection with the acquisition, Worldtex entered into a
long-term agreement to supply narrow elastic fabrics to Fruit of the
Loom.
Worldtex produces covered elastic yarn and narrow elastic
fabrics. Covered elastic yarns are increasingly woven or knitted into
fabrics for a growing number of applications in modern apparel and
home furnishings, where their dynamic stretch capabilities offer
durability, shape retention, enhanced styling and -- most important of
all -- comfort. Narrow elastic fabrics are used as apparel components
-- such as elasticized waistbands for men's and boys' underwear, our
patented QuikCord(R) in athletic wear and as straps, facings, edgings
and waistbands in women's intimate apparel, as well as for elastic
waistbands and thigh-high bands in women's hosiery.
