RUSTY THE STEER LETS THE CHIPS FALL TO SELECT 1999 STOCK PORTFOLIO

Steer Outperforms S&P 500 and Investment Pros

FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 30, 1998--Rusty the
Steer, the official mascot of the Star-Telegram, selected his 1999
stock portfolio today by letting the cow chips fall on a numbered grid
of squares representing publicly traded companies in the Fort
Worth/Dallas Metroplex.

In the shadow of a trompe l'oeil mural of the Chisholm Trail
cattle drive in downtown Fort Worth's Sundance Square, Rusty singled
out the following companies (as of press time) as the ones to watch in
1999:
-- Computer Sciences (NYSE:CSC)
-- Craftmade International Inc (Nasdaq:CRFT)
-- INSpire Insurance Solutions (Nasdaq:NSPR)

Although many may question the qualifications of a wayward Texas
steer to compete with the bulls on Wall Street, Rusty's picks have
been more successful during the past two years than financial experts'
forecasts. Rusty's seven-stock portfolio in 1997 enjoyed a landslide
performance (up 62.87 percent) compared to the S&P 500 (up 31.0
percent). Rusty's eight picks are ahead again in 1998 (up 30.8 percent
while the S&P 500 was up only 19.9 percent, as of Nov. 30).
"There's nothing scientific about the selection of this
portfolio, but who are we to argue with success? Rusty's picks keep
outperforming the market and beating the investment pros," said Rex
Seline, senior editor for business at the Star-Telegram. "Who better
than Rusty to grasp the true meaning of bull market?"

Star-Telegram business reporter Jim Fuquay will disclose Rusty's
complete nine-stock portfolio this Sunday, Jan. 3, 1998, in the
Star-Telegram and on www.star-telegram.com.
