John First I'll agree that technology is so fast changing one cannot market itself fast enough in order to become "The Standard" or that "new technology" comes along & might surpasses the original before successful sales . Ask Zi next time you call them "Have they hired new programmers and how many (for new ideas)?" - they have to answer. The reduced "non -full keyboard" reasoning is simply that you cannot put full keys on a cellular. Remember that phone lines are not everywhere that one might want send or receive email in CHINA - cellular email is the key. For those areas with phone lines or cable - well TV Navigator for surfing is the trend hopefully to come - remember its just being offered here in America - so marketing strategy is somewhat parallel presently in China (cellular email in America is simply a "preference of flexibility and new habit hopefully to catch on). I still believe Zi is on track in marketing. The Ericson deal celulars are supposed to have come out in December - futur orders will tell us if the marketing timing is correct and Zi's last deal w/ NCI on TV Navigator will allow China to use their existing TVs to surf instead of buying a computer. (A jump ahead in marketing strategy to the estimated new computer users/buyers in China - do you want priority to compute or surf in the household is the question in China I believe). Just "Opinion" -I'm not with Zi. If i was I wouldn't be allowed to say zip - if anyone knows how tight lipped they are I do. They do play by the book. It does have its advantages. The end of the 1st 6 months of 99' should answer the results of their present marketing strategy with Ericson and NCI. I'll toast them good luck on New Years eve. The same to everyone here at this posting. My wish for 99' : The $$$ starts to come in and one of the 2: NCI or Ericson will see the benefit to doing a buyout of ZI by the 3rd quarter of the new year. I'm not the GREAT SWAMI - just a dreamer.
