Gingrich was posturing himself as being above the fray. He knew very well that the impeachment articles were going to be focused on the perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, etc. As for Livingston, who was Gingrich's right-hand man, he gave the same kind of word-splitting type of legalistic responses to the Republicans that Clinton had gotten himself in trouble over.

Why does Trent Lott want the Senate trial to be over in a couple of weeks? Anybody know why? If it were Orrin Hatch saying that, I can understand! ;-) But Lott? Or maybe it is not Hatch, but... ??!!
