It wouldn't make sense for AOL to run AOL Anywhere with Java. It will only work where the right VM is in place. Anywhere turns into here and there. Don't think that's adequate for the public network except as an irritating ad. The Java initiative of run anywhere has failed as originally conceived. AOL certainly won't attempt to launch a Java Spruce Goose with the run anywhere decal.

PicoJava cores are dedicated processors operating under RTOS for the embedded limited intelligence applications needed in consumer smart electronics market. Why should someone tell these firms that their applications of such cores are inappropriate? PicoJava cores are certainly inappropriate for PCs. So how do you justify the claim that picoJava is constructive for AOL?

You use the term "strategic". On examination the word in your context is not meaningful. This is no trivial quip, it runs right to the heart of the matter. SUNW and AOL have nothing they can jointly develop, since they are categorically different companies in different markets. I suspect you're making a category error, an error of association where AOL is associated with PCs and so is SUNW, but that doesn't mean they can be associated. I'm asking what you believe will come out of the "strategic" agreement. I'm asking you what they can make. You can't make gravy with water.
