The DJIA(sm) closed lower today ending its
streak of eight consecutive sessions with a gain.
Analysts say today's losses were due to tax loss
selling, which is expected to continue through
tomorrow, not the usual culprit profit-taking.
Despite today's losses, analysts expect stocks
to trade higher tomorrow as fund managers take
one last opportunity to dress up their portfolios
before the end of the year. While analysts
continue to be optimistic about the first couple
of months of next year, they warn that next week
could be rocky as traders take advantage of the
new tax year to lock in profits.
