Yes, it is a good thing you don't need long-term support for microprocessors. A good example of that is the Celeron. It mirrors the clothing industry. There appears to be a new celeron for every season. No out-of-date, scooter skirts for Intel. Maybe they need to start a fashion designer series naming scheme before they run out of Northwestern US rivers. That could be a way of gracefully backing out of the sub-$1000 market. Intel and Liz Inside.... Calvin and Celeron Inside.........

Summer - Slot I and no cache
Fall - Slot 1 and 128K cache
Winter - Socket 370 and 128K cache
Spring - The weather is warming. More or less cache? Or just a new architecture?

Too bad you can't dig the same ones out of the closet each year. Then again, that wouldn't be fashionable would it.
