There is a glimmer of hope. 99 could shape up to be the 7200 rpm transition year, in addition to the year of GMR. I don't believe they'll all execute a flawless transition. Also, maybe that IDE/SCSI convergence will finally happen on those 7200 rpm GMR drives.
