The National Post reports in its Thursday edition that angry shareholders are trying to depose management and directors at Armistice Resources Ltd., a small Toronto-based gold exploration company. The dissident shareholders say Armistice has been so badly mismanaged that it may soon be unable to afford to have water pumped out of its underground project in northern Ontario. Company president Brian Davidson admitted yesterday that scenario is not impossible, but dismissed the complaints against himself and fellow managers as "absolutely distorted." The dissidents allege management has approved questionable loans to Armistice directors, and spends too much money on head office expenses and not enough on gold exploration. Of the $18.5-million raised by the company over the past four years, just 67 per cent has been spent on exploration, they say. The shareholders are led by Mark Diamond, a Montreal-based business executive, Gordon Usher-Jones, a stock broker in Montreal, and Guy Hinse, formerly Armistice's manager of its current exploration project.
