I'm expecting some kind of non-material hype press release any time now, perhaps before the open tomorrow; it's Bezos' m.o. If that doesn't happen, he could change the split ratio on January 4, as you suggest, to 4/1, 5/1, or even 6/1. That might excite some unsophisticated investors, even though it wouldn't actually add any value.
