Actually, I consider a 24% return pretty respectable for 10 months with regards to long term investments. Of course, it depends on how you define "long term". In my mind, it means 5 years or more. Would you like to place a wager with Bill as to where his DOOM INDEX will be in five years? I follow Bill's thread and I can tell you he is an astute investor and I take his opinions seriously. He's had many good investment ideas over the last year, unlike yourself. However, I do not always agree with him and I make my own decisions based on my own data and assumptions. I've made some serious money off of Bill's ideas. I have yet to see you come up with anything worth even reading.

Ah, so Mr. Wexler demands that there is a time component to his picks

On one hand this is pure crap - Mr. Wexler's own written rationale for shorting each of these stocks never mentions any "window" of time within which they are subject to a decline. Rather, ALL of these companies are fundamentally doomed by worthless technology, crooked management, etc. Here are his OWN WORDS:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
<<My picks are based on one or more of the following criteria:

- Market cap of over $100,000,000.
- Current stock price of 10 or above.
- Atrocious financials.
- Products based on pseudoscience or bad science.
- Unreasonable expectations of growth, a clear speculative mania.
- A religious or cultlike following among small investors.
- Very limited upside risk (i.e. bad news about the company should be compelling and publicly available. Overvalued momentum monsters like Yahoo are out of the question.)

In the months to come, I will be providing interesting commentary on these stocks on this thread instead of each individual stock's thread. That way, I can get more bang for the buck by making fun of them all at once in one central location!

I consider all of these "long term" shorts, i.e. I don't trade them in or out, but I will add to positions on runups. >>
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The thread should read his own words - and then watch him try to wriggle & change the meaning.

HERE IS AN INDISPUTABLE FACT

HIS COLLECTION OF "CAN'T MISS" SHORT PICKS HAVE GAINED 25% IN 10 MONTHS

On the other hand, concerning TXB, (briefly - this is off topic) I remain very confident that it will be a very big gainer - long term. Mr. Wexler, while demanding (retrospectively) that time should be worked into his picks, seems to think that TXB cannot recover. Yes, their NDA for their first drug was kicked back by the FDA. Their historical control stats were out of line with their drug stats. It is now being re-submitted with newly compiled historical data - which has improved the efficacy of the drug. The company is very sound with two other compounds in phase 2, a big pharma partner and sound financials.

I also enjoyed Mr. Wexler's fantasy explanation (his earlier post) of how he really didn't make all those negative claims against Zonagen's announce milestone's over the past 14 months. At least he didn't blame his employer - Asensio.

With Bill Wexler, as with Bill Clinton, words have "flexible" meanings. It depends on what the definition of "is" is.

Happy New Year - to EVERYONE!!

PS - Maybe Mr. Wexler can post his list of the year's best shorts - but for 1995 - that way there won't have to be any later qualifications.
