Hawkeye: Ahhh... so your hot news this AM referred to a several week old report. Thanks for clarifying that.

BTW, I am pleased that Daimler now agrees with my previously expressed opinion and has moved gasoline based reformers to the back burner. I am also delighted, of course, about that American Methanol Institute publication backing my previous stated contention that there would have to be a huge infrastructure cost to enable gas stations to carry methanol. You may recall the pitched battles we had here a year or so ago about that, in which you concluded that, because everyone on the thread disagreed with me, I had been "discredited".

No big deal. I am used to being right too early.

Here is a prediction you can test: At next year's winter auto shows, the car companies say "We are still deeply committed to our work on fc vehicles. However, due to complicated technical and economic issues, we will have to postpone the introduction date of the cars a few years." Then, for the next few years, the formula will be:

[Year of car show] + 6 years = Year of FC Car Introduction

In the meantime, of course, every year more car companies will introduce even better hybrids than the 70mpg ultra clean ones now showing up. After a few years the fc car effort will fade quietly into history, and no one will care.
