Tench - RE: "Cirruslvr, the difference is that AMD's price cut is on their fastest chip, the K6-2 400. Intel's price cuts are on their low-end chips, the Celerons."

Yeah.

I just wanted to make the point that the Celeron has been in the same situation. The way Paul's post went, it seemed like the end of the world was coming. Such biasy doesn't bode well with the rest of the board.

Ten, Paul,
What is there to argue about.
Intel is dumping Celeron 300As and 333s.
AMD reacted by lowering the price of the K6-2-400etc. to levels where they would be in line with the Celeron 366 and 400 because Intel is taking orders on those chips now.
Gateway wanted AMD chips but they had to get in line. Meanwhile Intel upped the release date of the Celeron 366 and 400 in order to keep Gateway away from AMD...but only "for now"....
Clearly, Intel doesn't want to lose more market share and will sacrifice some margin to do it.
As Scumbria and I said, it all is starting to depend on the execution of the K6-3 and K7...whether or not AMD falls back in the Pack....
