I just increased my position by 50%, as this stock is dirt cheap, and IMHO has bottomed.

Book value is $14.04, for a price/book ration of 0.32. Of the $14.04 book value, $1.20 is in cash. The company will still make money in the current environment, and has a current year P/E of 3.8, and a forward P/E of 9. Price/sales ratio is only 0.49.

I predict a bounce in January after tax loss selling ends. Gas prices will recover fairly quickly with cold weather, but oil will not recover until the second half of 1999.

This is a great stock to own for those with a longer term perspective.

JZ,

Thanks for enlightening me about "Drilling Bits" site. What a great site! Superb links from there to (among others) oilworld.com & newspage.com

Much appreciated. (I put my toe in the water today with 1K TMAR at 4 11/16.)

Ben

There appears to be an oil service stock that will move short term irrespective of the price of crude: Fracmaster (NYSE:FMA)

The company announced a couple of months back its intent to sell itself to accomodate Alfred Baum's desire to sell a huge block of stock. Subsequently, it wrote down its Russian oil assets and held open house for potential bidders. I'm told bids will be opened in mid-January, there will be more than one bidder, and as Baum wants at least $9 Canadian, there may need to be more than one round of bidding. BJ Service is a presumed bidder, but there is rumbling an oil company may take a shot at a steal. This scares the heck out of the service companies, who don't want an oil company to prove the case for vertical integration on the cheap.

I'm hoping to make back my TMAR losses on this one. Best for 99
