Happy & Healthy New Year to Pat & Gang of Days of Yore.

Surely plowing submarine cable was faster than deploying DSL--- but it's an interesting story all the same. I just got back from climbing every temple step in southeast asia. Fascinating places. Little sign of an 'Asian Crisis'. Everyone has a Honda 'Dream' scooter & is industriously zooming, zigging and zagging. Not much sign of big bandwidth but their ATM's work good! I now firmly believe the big pipes will come --- but slowly. How keen an observation is that?

Thanks for the memories ya all!

Steve

Pat,
What are your views on Covad Communications (COVD),which came out recently as an IPO and is a pure play in the ADSL arena? Do you know who their supplier is for the ADSL chips and modems? Thank you.

Hola Pat.

It's been three years since I joined you and the DMT brigade over on the Fool. What a long, strange trip it's been. Today, my DSL dream became a reality. It took part of the last two days, about 8 Pac Bell man hours, but it's working. My track record trading AMTX, AWRE, PAIR, ORCTF, WSTL sucked but I sure do love the technology! I've got an Alcatel 1000 so I assume there's some Amati under the hood. At $49/month Pac Bell service 384Kbps x 128Kbps (min guarantee), I have finally reached Web nirvana. It really is the only way to surf!
