What is the ATM DS3 card? The ATM DS3 card provides direct access to ATM networks through the MAX TNT™ WAN access switch and DSLTNT™ xDSL concentrator. Traffic from multiple line interface cards are concentrated onto a ATM Network, allowing service providers, LECs, CLECs and enterprise customers faster access to more services without costly conversion equipment. 2. What ATM forum standard is supported? The ATM DS3 card supports ATM Forum UNI 3.0/3.1. UNI 4.0 is not supported at this time. 3. Are the ATM DS3 card interoperable with Ascend's ATM switching products. Yes, the ATM DS3 card is fully interoperable with the CBX 500 and B-STDX 8000/9000 products. 4. Is E3 standards supported on this card? No, E3 support is not available at this time, but it is planned for in a future release. 5. Are ATM SVCs supported on the ATM DS3 card? No, ATM SVCs are not supported at this time, but it is planned for in a future release. 6. What QoS classes are supported? The ATM DS3 card supports UBR traffic only, relying on the ATM network to provide QoS for other traffic classes. 7. What ATM Adaption layers are supported? The ATM DS3 card supports Segmentation And Reassembly (SAR) function per AAL5. AAL1 and AAL2 support is not available at this time. 8. Will I have to upgrade my current hardware or software to support this new card? Yes, ATM DS3 card support is available in the MAX TNT and DSLTNT 2.1 release code. The MAX TNT requires an 8 Mb flash upgrade. The DSLTNT requires no hardware upgrade. 9. Is the ATM DS3 card shipping? Yes, The ATM card has been shipping since June of 1998. Beta trials were successful and customer feedback has been very positive.
