Gersh, Just an observation, but

before I filled my mattress with Euros, it seems the prudent person would want to make sure the concept works.

Yeah, you will need the old kind of cash to buy cigarettes and a 6pack. But buying stock or buying pig halves futures.. Or buying SnP 500 webs... or buying an european company, Euro will do just fine, thank you.
