Hardly, I agree, the expression "MSFT asleep at the wheel" is probably incorrect or doesn't aptly fit MSFT today. I think my line of thinking at the time was more or less related to a couple of years ago when MSFT was caught completely off-guard with Netscape and the evolution of the WWW. At that time, MSFT was out in left field and had absolutely no corporate strategic plan or focus towards the internet. In light of having massive technical and monetary resources.

What I should have said is that MSFT "is lost at the wheel" and seems to lack a minimal "road map" or strategic focus needed to carry them forward longterm. At the present time, they seem to be a somewhat amorphous, unfocused organization being pulled in many different directions. Maybe just symptoms of a firm operating in a monopolistic or oligopolistic industry(Monopolistic???). Anyhow, having said all this, if one reads and listens to the Oracle vision and strategic focus towards internet computing the contrast between the MSFT and Oracle future becomes more apparent.

Thoughts, opinions, anyone?
