OT!!

Why would MMs even execute Joe Q Public's trade if there's no onus for him/her to do so? Why don't they simply trade amongst themselves?

Its my opinion that they do so in order to keep the brokerage firms customers happy. The brokerage firms are their bread and butter.

Level II is simply a reference to live quote systems for the Nasdaq market. There are many different firms which offer this service, although not all offer the pink sheet MM listings. It is a subscription service. There is a thread here on SI devoted to level II trading. You might want to read through some of the posts there, to get an idea of what some subscribers think of their systems.
