I thought "Bear Trap" is when the market rebounds strongly only to decline precipitously afterwards... please correct me if I am wrong... am I..?

A bear trap traps bears, leading to their death. So it would seem to be anything but what you describe (unless it's the strong rebound that kills the bears, in which case what the market does afterward would be irrelevant, much the same way in which it's irrelevant whether the pelt of a trapped bear is later used to suffocate the hunter who laid the trap).
