Well Bill with regards to the rest of your post, the problem is you are speculating that there is underhanded control of the dems by these groups. I dont know if there is or isnt. If there is, I dont think its significant because from where I sit the unions are not influential anymore. Notice Im not saying it doesnt exist. But as an analogy, imo the Christian Coalition has an agenda of turning the entire country into christians with their legislation and intimidation tactics which unfortunately for all of us have sometimes worked. Otoh, even if the unions wanted to make every worker a union worker, their efforts would not really be fruitful since the industrial workforce is not as influential as it was, and the new businesses in information have no use for union labor. I havent seen any laws that the dems have passed that affect me as a direct result of the unions wanting such legislation.

If the unions were as important to the Dems as the CC is to the republicans, you better believe Carey would be all over the talking heads shows. (in fact, he did make a few brief appearances during the UPS strike if I recall but it was just that - brief).

Regrading the rest of your post,

Second, you are wrong about unions and dems. The dem party machine controlled the illegal Teamster's election of Carey just last year. Clinton himself signed over $30 million to them to run the election.

Not saying it didnt happen, just that it isnt that significant.

Look, each party has its constituencies. I don't happen to belong to any of those groups, myself. What I was really hoping for was an invitation to Renaissance Weekend.

I dont know what Renaissance weekend is.
